Tip of the day

The tip for today is never run your coins threw the dishwasher! Please note, I have never done this nor will ever try. I was at my local coin shop and over heard a couple of want-to-be coin collectors telling the dealer that they run their dirty, dingy coins threw the dishwasher with great resultsimage They said " it gets them all nice, pretty and shinny. Hence, the dealer didn't take any if the coins they were offering him.image Cascade and jet dry....what a miximage

Steam cleaning will remove some of that stubborn dirt that won't come off in the dish washer. Stains
and imbedded dirt will come off with a file, but this is a last resort to get deep down dirt.

What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
  • Hmmm. I have to wonder if these guys might have read a response I posted to a thread a while back, where I "jokingly" mentioned using the dishwasher as the final phase of cleaning.
I certainly hope they remembered to use the Cascade for a spot free rinse image

This thread makes me want to try an experiement?

I have often left loose change in the washer, and it comes out looking about the same. I think I will find a nice 40's Ms-65 red lincoln and let it go through a wash cycle and see if PCGS grades it?
  • WOW, y'all are hilarious!
