I’d like to say I’m really disappointed with PSA this time. I couldn’t understand why people were always talking bad about them, how they were always late in guaranteed turn around times, how cards were not shipped until the last minute. I used to always tell my friends that their probley just too busy and they are trying to get your orders out to you as quick as they can. I never understood why everyone was always so mad at PSA reputation. I figured everyone was impatience in getting their orders. I don’t have that problem because I live like 10 minutes from PSA and I could just make an appointment and stop by and pick up my cards as well as drop them off. I’ve been submitting cards to PSA since 1995 and so far, they have treated me pretty good I must say. I give special thanks to a lot of the people there. I’ve never had anything bad happen with my order until this year 2004. I’ve submitted a lot of 104 cards at the beginning of the year, only to finally meet the “Grader of Death,” everyone was talking about. On my entire lot submission. I got nothing but 7’s that was very disappointing, I figured that must have just been a fluke or something. I decided to just forget about that entire lot and send in another submission.
Last October I had a card that PSA/DNA had authenticated and said was real, but PSA had stopped grading this issue. And wouldn’t put it in the holder, I talked with specialist grader Ivan Lopez about the situation of the card, he told me that as of September 30th PSA stopped grading this issue because it was unlicensed. And PSA would not grade it, That was fine. The beginning of 2004 PSA said they would start encapsulating autographs in holders to enhance your collection without a grade, but with the word Authentic printed on the holder, as long as PSA/DNA said it’s real. I took the opportunity to submit the card to PSA I had authenticated by PSA/DNA just to have it in a holder. I don’t mind paying the extra fee just as long as I could have it in a holder to enhance my set. PSA told me that they would not holder it, but on the website it says they will holder any authentic autograph that will fit in a PSA holder. So the card was dropped off, they said they would have to send it to PSA/DNA to confirm it was graded by them. Card was registered into the system on 01/12/04 Submission # 4150640 zipcode 92630 for some reason, card is lost by PSA. Never shows up. I called asking about it, time passes and still the card never shows up. Later on I was told the card was actually resubmitted to PSA/DNA on 02/29 and was told once they confirm that it’s real card would be holdered and Authentic only grade would be added to it and returned to me. Only to realize that PSA/DNA doesn’t send the card to PSA, but ships the card directly to me in a envelope with some stamps. How tacky is that, had the card got lost in the mail, I’d be out a lot of money. Still if you check the submission status online it still says Futher process is pending. Ihad to then submit the card back to PSA for a holder, and was given a hard time. Basically a long run around, and it took forever to just get the card in a holder for my set. But the card is now in a holder as of 03/03/04 see scan. Can you tell me what’s wrong with this holder??? Gee wiz, it’s a crappy job PSA.
While I was waiting for that submission to go through, I had sent in another order to PSA/DNA on 02/03/04 I submit to PSA/DNA very often, and took advantage of the 20 day special for $20. I always insure my submission as well as add a delivery confirmation when shipping out card to them, Confirmation#0303 2460 0001 6255 4034 it will show my cards were received at PSA/DNA on 02/07/04 for some strange reason my cards were taking longer than expected to return back to me. It still hasn’t even posted on the PSA site, and I would check it often and still they would never be registered into the system. On 02/25/04 I decided to give PSA/DNA a call, to find out if the cards were submitted back to PSA the lady who answered the phone said that James Spencer was out of town, and has just returned, and my order will go out in today mail to PSA. So I felt kind of relieved. On Monday 03/01 received call from PSA from a guy named Matt, telling me that the cards I submitted needed to go on separate orders, because what happened was I submitted 2 tall boys mixed in with regular cards, and the postage was different. And he called to ask if it was ok to add both card on another order and charge me postage for it, I told him that I’d pick it up. He said it was find and made a note that I was picking up my cards when they were graded. 03/10 cards finally registered into the system. Still no grades, On 03/12 called PSA and spoke with customer service rep Laura ex#424 let her know my situation and asked when my cards will be done. She looked into it and was very helpful. She told me she’d call me back on Wednesday or Thursday to get back with me on the cards. She called back on Wednesday 03/17 letting me know that her because my cards took more than 30 days, PSA will send me 14 free vouchers to make up for the delay. I thought that was nice of PSA to do that for me, and I ended the call there. My cards grades were posted on Thursday 03/18 Submission#4149913 zipcode 92630 5 of the 9 cards were graded, two were added on another submission form because they are postcard size Submission#4140697 I called again to PSA and spoke to a guy name Chris, told him the situation, I thought I’d ask them to credit the unused money back to my creditcard get this. He said, PSA will not give you any vouchers, because I added both tall boys and regular cards on one submission form. The form I was using doesn’t say they can’t be added, that must be a newer form. I don’t understand, three of the cards were autographed in person, and came back rejected as “not authentic” what the heck Hank Aaron and Willie Mays were signed in person, Michael Jordans signature was signed at a game!!! I submitted 3 oversize cards, two had to go on a different submission form because they had to go in tall boy holders, but when I received my cards, the 3rd card was also in a tall boy holder and wasn’t charged as a tallboy card. See scan!!! Also what sucked was because I picked up my cards I was still charged extra shipping for both orders, and still haven’t received any vouchers as promised.

PSA as a valued customer, your starting the year off bad, if this keeps up I’m not planning to renew my membership. Also charging me extra on my creditcard without my permission is unacceptable, I plan on contacting my creditcard company and ask them to revoke the charges for service I didn't recieve. Also I’m thinking of selling my entire collection and give up this PSA nonsense collecting. Your customer service stinks this year and I’m sure a lot of other people think so too. I'm sure my threat will be erased, but I hope alot of people will be able to read the post before you take it off.

Old link , but it may help you in your time of crisis.

Roastedcat-- That is a crappy story. Sorry to hear this has happened to you. Sometimes I think when you deal with companies like this the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I'm not a very large submitter to PSA (in fact I just let my membership run out), but I certainly have heard you.
Good luck.
<< <i>if they cant certify a signiture that you stood next to the player and personally got...wow...I mean WOW!!! >>
Sometimes when the player is standing or walking when they are signing, it alters their signature. Try sitting down and signing a piece of paper on a desk, then try signing it while walking just holding it in your hand. This difference makes it look fake to PSA/DNA since they have a database of signatures to compare to. I'm by no means defending PSA for what happened, but I think this explains why some came back "not authentic"

<<<what the heck Hank Aaron and Willie Mays were signed in person, Michael Jordans signature was signed at a game!!!>>>
I agree however, I seriously doubt that all 3 were standing/walking..I would imagine at least one of the 3 was sitting and or they signed close enough to a "sitting" signature as you stated..either way its no excuse, and maybe they should have 2 signatures for each player in their database..one sitting and one standing/walking..and in jordons case I am sure they can get a copy of the casino marker he signed for at the Venitian " he was standing" while I was there!!!
I agree with the point that if something isnt Kosher dont authenicate...however, I am not paying for an opinion, I am paying for supposed expertise, and if I submitted my payton and they told me they couldnt authenticate it because it doesnt "match their database" but i sat right next to him and had him sign I would have a problem with that...also, how do they take into account an injury..lets say you met joe dimaggio at a golf tourney and he had hurt his hand, he couldnt grip the pen normally, yet he signed for you...and the supposed psa/dna people said it wasnt authentic...see thats the problem, people get older the signiture changes with age, injury, and condition of where you were when it was signed...this area is way to subjective, as is card grading, but with card gading you are looking at something that you can measure, ie centering, trimming, color, focus, edges...so while there is some subjectivity to it..it is not as subjective as a signiture being authentic or not...the difference between a 7 or 8 can be substantial however, not as great as a mantle thats authentic and one thats told its not
If you are serious about selling your collection I know someone who would pay top dollars for some HOF Autos of yours
I got 82 HOF Auto's with PSA/DNA and PSA right now too I just hope my story turns out better than yours..
You worked hard for your bueatiful collection, don't throw the bucket just yet.
Jeff
I don't know how PSA can call autograph authentication, PSA/DNA. They are to confirm or deny a person's signiture.
I can only imaguine that each and everyone has a distinct marker in their hand writing. Maybe that's the DNA part. If a hand writing expert
can't find the marker in a persons signiture, when he or she is walking, standing, sitting, or hung upside down by their feet.
Then what kind of database do they have or what kind of expert's are they?
I'm not a PSA basher at all. I submit as everyone else does, I'm a loyal member, with an up to date subscription and have been for many years. I think the newness of the "PSA/DNA" part of PSA will (hopefully) get better with time.
What's with the DNA. If a DNA test was performed on each submission, the cost would be inconceivable. I think PSA/Autograph authentication, would sound much more in line with what they do. Just my HO of course.
PSA's in house customer service sounds like it also nees a little tweaking...

Copy your original post and put it in an Email to JOrlando@collectors.com (Joe Orlando's Email). Make sure you include a phone # and I am sure Joe or someone at PSA will help you get this straightened out. Sounds like you just have not talked to the right person to handle your complaint at PSA from what I have read here. I have done this several times and some one has always gotten back to me either straighten it out or explain in reasonable fashion as to why they did what they did.
