Filled D 1979 Quarter

I am not much into error coins but I have a 1979-D Quarter and the D looks like it is completely filled. Is this common? I have another quarter that might have a filled D. Just a wonderin'.

The D style mint mark punch(and/or duplicates) that was used on 1979D cents had been in use since 1933 and had become very worn. In fact, the D and S mint marks on 1979 coins are little more than blobs. It wouldn't take much to fill them in if they weren't already. A new S punch was introduced in 1979 and a minority of 1979 coins have the new S; the majority have the filled S. A new D punch was introduced in 1980.
