Is it just my imagination...

or does ANACS seem to have a larger percentage of pre-1865 coins than NGC and PCGS?

ANACS is very popular among those who do early 19th century coins, and most feel their grading of circulated coins is excellent. I have many 19th century type coins in ANACS holders, and I like the coins for the grades on the holders.
  • I like ANACS. I just thought this was odd. I really prefer older coins. Usually I search Ebay by the type of coin I am looking for. Today, just for kicks, I thought I would search by grading service. There sure a lot of moderns to get through to find anything pre-1865 in NGC and PCGS...

What you need to do is go to the category of the coin you are looking for, say Bust halves. Then type this in (pcgs, ngc, anacs) and it will show all PCGS, NGC and ANACS coins in that category.
  • I think you find more older coins in ANACS holders because they will net grade them. PCGS will BB 'em.
