Finished my 53 Bowman Color Set

Yesterday just finished my 53 Bowman Color Set and I wanted to thank again those who helped me: Keith Abrahms, MemoryLane, Andy Madec and sactocards (for actually being able to get some raw cards for $100 or $200 in high numbers that actually graded 8) and Set Builders.

I was not alive when the set was produced, but I think it is by far the most beautiful cards I have ever collected
Collector of baseball PSA sets from the 1970's & hockey rookie cards; big New York Rangers fan (particularly now that they are sleeping with the enemy with Holik and Kaspiritus). Also starting to collect 53 Bowman Color as I think they are the most beautiful cards I have seen.

    Congrats Chris! image
    Good for you.
  • Congratulations! I have had the pleasure of owning a few very high dollar cards from the set and I agree, that they are some of the nicest cards ever created. Did you see the BVG 9 Mantle on eBay?

congrats! ..thats a really popular set from the 50's.

completing the set is amazing...breaking the top five is awesome!

    what are your future plans?

is that as vintage as you will do or will you move down?

Congratulations, Chris! One of the nicest sets of all time. So what's next for you...?

Probably good timing on the 53 Bowman - I understand that a famous lawyer from out West has just entered the foray for both the Color and the B&W sets....
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • a truly remarkable accomplishment!! it took me from 1989- 2001 to build my raw ex-exmint set........and without EBAY i'd probably still be working on it!! i must sound like a broken record but the reese and musial are IMHO the 2 nicest cards ever made...and that coming from a yankee fan! kudos.

Chris -- That's one of my all time favorite sets. The photography is stunning for that era plus I like the fact it isn't cluttered with names, positions, or team symbols, etc.... If I ever decide to venture into building a set from the '50's, it would be that one. Congratulations!

Very nice job. That is an awesome looking set.
  • Forgot to say thanks to Jim Crandall who helped me get the tough Whitey Ford card, a really beauty - I hope when I return from my next trip to get my set scanned in

    Thanks again to all

Next for me is 51/52 Bowman when the bidding on 9's calms down a bit, a few non sports sets (finishing Star Wars 77 and Mars Attacks), finishing 62 and then I do not know, probably my 75 Mini set and 54 Bowman

    Chris;

Great accomplishment! You chose a true classic to complete! IMHO, if that set had any key RCs in it, many would consider it the best of all time!

Good luck on your next ventures!

    Chris,

Congratulations on another set complete. I'm sure you'll continue to upgrade.

I'd like to thank you for posting scans!!! That's what I like about the registry, especially on such a beautiful set.

Best of luck on finishing the rest of your sets.
