Ok, due to the 'not so great' scans, I'll elaborate a bit further. The luster and cartwheel is fan-bloody-tastic. If it was cleaned or dipped, someone did it right. The silk's all there. The "dings" on the shield are on the shield. Can't see them with the naked eye, but it's the only thing on the whole piece that bothers me, and believe it may take away from it a smidge.

The Rede we live by: If it harms none, do what you will.
First, I'm in agreement that the scans don't look so good. Second, it is a full head without question, but most from this date in higher condition are. It does look cleaned to me, but I'll take your word it's the scan and the luster's there.
From here, I'm not where to go. I'd give it either AU58FH or MS64FH (provided it's not cleaned of course), but I can't tell from the scan. I'm leaning toward 58FH because the sash split in the garment looks to show a little wear, or I guess it could be weakness of strike. I lean toward wear since the rest of the coin looks rather sharply struck. My opinion of wear is also based on the reverse. The eagle's breast is crisp, but the leading edge of the eagle's right wing (the left side of the reverse) seems to have a touch of wear. Again, I can't really tell for sure from the scan.
