1943? I must have missed other presentations of WW2 medals by Goetz. Was he pro-Nazi?

Dimitri, I know very little about Goetz, and I can't answer your question, but one thing I've gathered is that he had a very strong patriotic streak in him. Perhaps he was compelled to do pieces that would have been considered "PC" in today's parlance?

Thank you Jester, I wouldn't blame him if he was anyway. I just can't remember some older remarks on this subject. I was under the impression that he disapproved of Hitler's plans. He was also much older and wiser.I hope Scott will enlighten us.


edit: this is one of his best reverses ever IMHO, artistically speaking

He was not pro-nazi...in fact, he pushed the limits on several of his "hitler" medals and almost gained the wrath of Adolph on him. One, had Karl placing the first two letters of Adolph, Ad, in such a way as to imply Hitler were dead...this didn't go over well with the Nazi's. Another had him intentionally mispelling Hitler with two "t's" as Hittler. He had a strong belief in Germania as a whole but he was not impressed by, nor did he accept, Nazism.
