The first thing I'm going to do is crack it out of that slab...I think I got a pretty good deal on it.I know you can't tell much from the pics but I don't have the coin yet.Maybe if I send it to NTC I can get it upgraded just kidding..

The coin is an AU, and I saw what you paid for it. Might have seemed like a good deal, but I think you will find if you take it to an honest dealer you will find out you over paid for it.

You can tell that from those images? Or, have you seen better images of the coin? This is an issue that is normally weakly struck. With images that small and fuzzy, I don't know how you can determine if it's a weak strike or light circulation.

weak strike is what I hoping for.I figured it was probably overgraded at least 2 points and paid just over ask on a 58. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Russ, I have seen much larger images of this coin. And I can tell you from my experience with key date Morgans in ACG MS62-63 slabs, the chances of this being a no-problem mint state coin are slim to none.

does kinda look as if the luster was rubbed off liberty's cheek and the eagle's breast, which would preclude an AU....could very well look diff in hand though. Let us know how it looks when you receive it.

The big problems (especially from a pic) when purchasing coins in ACG, NTC, PCI, SEGS, etc. holders is not only the risk of an overgraded coin, but you also run the risk of getting a cleaned, whizzed, tooled, added mintmark, or who the hell knows what coin.

Don't assume when buying coins in these types of holders that they are simply overgraded........
