Would pcgs slab this nova?

Check out the condition of this baby. The date is readable 1788.
I'll probably never buy another one and this puppy was cheap.
Hard to photograph.

Don't laugh to hard when you see it....

Will PCGS slab it? I don't think so.

That coin belongs in Colorfolcoins type set of worst ever coins.

  • I don't think it is that bad. It looks extremely worn, but not damaged to me. What is the problem?

  • Hmm, anyone wanna place bets on if Braddick will want to buy it? image It'd be intereting to see if PCGS would bag it or what it would grade...

Worn? yes it surely is. Maybe PCGS can establish a new grade of VP01=very poor. These are rare coins, but you've gotta be able to see at least some of the devices a little better than this IMHO.

I can't see the date in the pictures, but if it IS dated 1788 I would cetainly hope they would slab it. It would be a major find. Nova's were made in 1783, 85 and 86.
  • hm......from the pictures i can't really tell whether it's a PR67 or PR68image

If you can read the date, then PCGS should slab it. It's worn but not damaged, so no reason for a body-bag.

They should slab it. Why would they bag it?

  • I really don't understand why some people are ridiculing this coin. We can't all afford an MS65 example. I think this is a perfectly fine low grade example. It will probably grade Poor or Fair, but we can all see what it is. I don't see any horrible, disfiguring damage - just good ol' wear.

    I like it!

the reverse looks like it might be a tad rough but I still like it!

I'm not ridiculing it, it's in about the same condition as the one I have. Mine is a 1785.
