The sharp strike makes me think it might be the first one off of the dies - maybe its one of those Amon-Carter Bust halvers.imageimageimage

Last summer I was at the Smithsonian, viewing the National coin collection, and saw one of these. I thought it was unique, but apparently not. Thbis one should go for high 7 figures.image

And we thought Charles Barber hated high relief?

I've seen a few of these on eBay before. Nicely done.

These are sometimes called pushed-out, popped-out, embossed or repousse coins.

They were made with all types of coins with several different images.

Some of the early ones bring nice prices for a token.

    This is a Nickel.

Glen Burger had dies for the pop out design at the Baltiimore show last week. If this one sells for good money, consider buying the dies and making more of the things.
