I recently bought an Unc. GB 1902 threepence and was wondering how I can tell the difference between Maundy, matte proof and business strike. The coin has a plain edge, does that matter?

Maundy have strong strikes and very mirrored fields, often coming in a myriad of colors. In fact they seem to be the rule rather then the exception in my experience thus far. Thinking back, I dont think I've even seen a true blast white maundy 3d of Eds. His seem to take to color with great glee. The matte proof has the proof look but the fields are matte thus muted against the bust. Gen circ dont have the same high sheen the maundy have. You should be able to yea or nay the matte proof out of the equation rather quickly.
