There is something awry with the tiara on this 22.Looks like it was from mint to me.Is this a VAM?

I'm not sure about the whole VAM thing, but that is a struck through error. I doubt struck through errors get VAM numbers because they are a coin-to-coin striking error, not a die error or die variety.

How about this 82 Morgan?It has what appears to be planchet cracks running from D through wing to top of S and from rim through lower N to leaf.

I have been thinking about getting into looking for VAM's myself, but don't know much about them yet. I did find a site that makes me think your Peace dollar may be a VAM. VAM's include die cracks so your 1882 may also be a VAM.

According to the VAM book 1882 Morgans have quite a few die varieties especially doubling of the date, but no mention of the die cracks on the reverse. None of the die varieties are considered significant.

Die cracks alone are not enough for a Morgan to be a unique VAM. Has to actually have a die break visible to the naked eye, according to what I've learned.
