Interesting B&O Railroad medallion

A coworker heard I collected coins and brought this medal for me to see.
It's almost 3 inches in diameter and is either brass or bronze.
He says there were two medals struck for the occasion, the second
with a different engine.

Anyone have any information about this medallion ?
The reciept he kept shows he paid $85.
