<< <i>Has anybody else noticed that their pictures have gotten much better recently? Kudos to whomever is now doing their imaging. >>
Their images have gotten better, but they are overexposing the bright white coins. I just received an 1892-P MS63 PCGS Morgan from them the other day, and I was blown away by it. Much better than their image showed. You can view it in my registry set.
2 Cam-Slams!

the clear PCGS slab and the white NGC slab
require different lighting and exposure settings.
<< <i>That type of toning is extremely difficult to image. >>
When something is selling for $77,500, isn't it worth the investment to make sure you can capture that color? It's not impossible--I've done it... but with a digital camera, I think they're still scanning.
<< <i>My guess is the coin looks as it does in the pic. Why do I say that? Because the white of the slab seems to be properly exposed, not gray indicating underexposure, or brilliant white indicating overexposure. >>
Remember, the coin is recessed in the slab--the light doesn't hit the coin as it hits the slab. That said, NGC slabs are the most difficult to capture toning due to how they trap light.
they picked up in Baltimore. Everyone's right, their photos are alot better recently.
Wish I had a few extra bucks laying around. Like 20-30K.
