Were there any copper clad pennies minted in the 1930's ?
Especially interested in 1936.

Hello hossie. Welcome to the forums! image

Lincoln cents in the thirties were made of solid bronze.

    umm...clad? No...

all Lincoln cents from 1909 through 1982 (save the steelies of 1943 and the change-over to zinc in 1982) are 95% copper with a 5% mixture of tin and zinc. Like John said, that makes bronze, appropriately named "French bronze." Exception to this is 1962-1982 cents that have no tin, those are appropriately called "brass."

  • Welcome! Yup. There were Lincolns in '36, both for circulation and proofs.
