6300 Lincolns only 4 made it to the finals

I looked at 6300 Lincoln cent this week and ended up with 4 coins that may go to PCGS.

1968-S

Which will make it?

They have no marks, but there may be a speck dust or a hair from my head (which is falling out quickly).

melikecoins, am I correct when you say you examined 6,300 Lincoln cents this week? That comes out to over 4 Lincoln cents each minute, 24 hours a day for 7 days. Assuming you "looked" at one coin every 3 seconds, you would examine 20 coins a minute or 1,200 in an hour. It would have taken over 5 hours of constant "work" to do the job! That's alot of effort and time (ie) (time is money) to determine whether or not to send coins to PCGS to get them slabbed. May I ask, why do you do it?

Looking at 6300 coins in 6 days is very time consuming your right.

I have done a bag 5000 coins in 2 days. And I missed nothing!

Howevery not every coin needs 3 seconds to tell if it is a good one or not (98.5% of all coins).

The ones pictured went through a 3 second scanning (obverse), then a 3 second look with a glass(obverse), then a 15 second look at both sides.

And that was just to make it to the top 100 or so coins.

After that I really looked at them.

Wow!! They're all great. The '59-D probably won't be a money coin but the others are.
The '60-D is very impressive and the '68-S isn't far behind.

Usually one can go through an entire bag (5,000 coins) in less than twenty minutes if
there are no varieties or gems in it. Gems will increase it to an hour or two and varieties
can increase it a lot more.

What most people don't consider is the fate of the coins which aren't worth saving. Most
of these will go straight into circulation since the market for them is so small. The numbers
of even the common bags have been greatly reduced over the years.
