Used Gum Auction - Who remembers this?

OK, a few guys are onto something with the Topps chewing gum - but this is way out there - I think I'ld bid on that 7100$ auto card first!

Please let me know who was the most interesting with their use of the gum. I know this isn't as intelligent as card grading, upcoming BB season and trades, acquisitions, callups etc. But, what the hey! It's hump day.

When people discuss that auction, they seem to forget that the auction was for a charity. I am pretty sure that the winning bidder didn't really think that the gum was actually "worth" thjat much. Of course, no collectible is really worth a great deal intrinsically.

Are you allowed to use the word "intrinsically" regarding a $7100 dollar auction (for charity) for chewed gum?

Now that you mention, I think I remeber something about charity - this was really just focusing in on the item and not the intent - it was going with the "what to do with all that TCG Heritage" we all have bundles of - it was just funnin around - good point tho - but ya know still - I think I would have rather had a GU bat, ball, jersey or somethin - NO JOCKS please.
