Just saw this on the big E and it looks very practical Link. Can you take a picture through a magnifier such as this, obviously not using the camera flash?
I used to use one very similar when I was into baseball cards more than coins...useful, yes, but not for prolonged periods of time. I don't believe they make them like this with distortion-free lenses. This makes them somewhat annoying to use.
Yes, you can take pictures through a magnifier like that, and you are correct no flash, I have a little nicer model and it works well with the digital camera
for my closeups I just use the zoom on my camera. for my super closeups I use a 5X mag infront of the camera lens while zoomed in and for the super duper closeups i use a 10X mag infront of the lens...works great
After about ten minutes of looking at coins, your neck and back will be screaming..."Pick up the coin and hold it in front of your face......have you heard the term 'ergonomically incorrect'?" buy a nice ricoh camera and use the super macro feature to take great zoomed pics....i love ricoh
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
I am not sure excatly what your photograph needs are, but one alternative is the "Digital Blue Microscope" It is sold at Toys R Us as its a childs toy. Its not a microscope per say, but a digital camera with a 10 X, 60 X and 200X magification. You slide the coin underneath and focus and save the image to your hard drive, or print it if you like, its that simple..best part, it cost $50.
