PSA 9 OC equivalent of a PSA 8?

What are your feelings and how exactly does the registry handle this?

    The registry handles it by treating a qualifier with a 2 point deduction...i.e. a 9OC = PSA 7.

  • okay, i just found that as well. Sucks. I got excited when I found a PSA 9 OC murray rookie. Not sure I want it now.

I asked Joe Orlando at the national this summer in Atlantic City why a PSA 9 o/c
gets dropped down to a 7. A few collectors felt that was too punitive.
He replied that only cards that are way o/c go down to a 7. If a card is MINT
and is close to the PSA 8 centering standards, then the grader should give it an 8.
So only way off centered cards get an o/c qualifier if they are MINT.
