Looking thru the dealer online websites the other day I noticed a neat looking pattern quarter from 1869 that was listed as an r-7.
I looked the Judd number up in the Pollock book and it listed the piece as an r-6 [Judd 723]
What is the difference in terms of mintage & possible value ?

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

R-7: 4-12
Value difference: No idea.

Rarity scale.
R1 most common; R8 least common.
The often used Sheldon scale is:
R8 = 1-3 known (estimated), "Unique or Nearly Unique"
R7 = 4-12 known, "Extremely Rare"
R6 = 13-30 known, "Very Rare"
R5 = 31-75 known, "Rare"
R4 = 76-200 known, "Very Scarce"
R3 = 201-500 known, "Scarce"
R2 = 501-1250 known, "Uncommon"
R1 = over 1251 known, "Common"
As for value, rarity is only one factor involved, as it is with regular issue coins. A huge factor is demand, which can have great influence on a market such as the pattern market, which usually has low mintage. For example, a high R7 Standard Silver quarter, such as a J-919, may bring less than half the money as a Washlady quarter (R6) in the same grade.

The older Polluck book that Rkkay gave me lists the coin as a rarity 6.
This is a pcgs pop 1 coin in proof 65 r & b that sold for 3680 including the juice at the A.N.R
and is currently being offered by Legend with a much better picture then the Heritage picture [suprise] for about 1000 dollars more.
If I were the old owner of the coin that got only about 3200 when [you subtract the juice] I would have been extremly angry considering the Heritage pic's, doesnt even look like the same coin, but it's a pop 1 in r & b so their is no doubt it's the same one.
By the way, the Heritage A.N.R. also listed the coin in that auction as a r-6.
