Both MS67. The 1940 is virtually mark free and a nice strike, but looks dipped and unoriginal (please confirm) The 56 is a beautiful looking coin and has great eye appeal, enough to merit the MS67 grade. Those are some nice pictures.. what sort of lighting did you use to capture those beauties.

Theres a few marks on the obverse of the 40 and a ding in the wing on the reverse by the "C". A very nice
    coin though.

The 56P has a small cut on the cheek just under the eye. I love the look of this coin.

Very nice coins. Like Lucy said, it's tough to grade from these images but I'll say 66 for the 1940 and 65 for the 1956.

Like Lucy said.. its hard to tell from pics. Nothing like holding a coin in your hands.

Don't see much wrong with those from the pics. 67 and 66. Great strike on the 40.

Very nice coins. Like Lucy said, it's tough to grade from these images but I'll say 66 for the 1940 and 65 for the 1956.

Well thats close enough. The 1940 is in an ICG holder and graded MS67. Its a very nice coin and I would
grade it a high end MS66.

The 1956 is in a PCGS holder and graded MS65. I love the coin and would grade it an MS66 shot 67.

Both coins are listed on my eBay auctions. When I saw these 2 I just had to post them. These were
consigned to me and my guess is they have been in a safe deposit box for a couple years. The 56 is in an older PCGS
holder where the bar code is on the reverse of the holder.

I agree with the high end 66 assessment by onlyroosies on the 1940.

I thought it was real cloase to a 67.

The 1956, I thought 65/66 but can see why PCGS graded it 65 back in the earlier blue insert holders. Back then darker coins were of a concern to PCGS. Also the strike in the hair of Washington seems a trifle weak. A candidate for 66 but might not make it.
