Selling on EBay

I am new to the forum, but have been reading same for a few days.
A lot to be learned and a lot to be enjoyed. I am going to post a few
questions and hope to learn from the expert panel..

I am selling off my collection and not sure the best way to begin. I built up a small feedback rating on EBay thru buying some stuff, but see that graded cards posted by low feedback sellers don't seem to
get the price that high feedback sellers get. Am I better off posting some single ungraded cards for auction before I post my graded
stuff? Also, what feedback rating in your mind is the break point to trust a seller on Ebay?.

Sorry I guess I should have asked this way:

Are you looking for "fast" money or can it take a little time? I only ask because if you are looking for fast money you wont have the "time" to pad your feedback. If you can take the time there is nothing wrong with the "small" items over a period of time.

The next question would be is it current/vintage and what type of sports. In my opinion current Basketball is going crazy right now, (course it could be the tme of year) and you might "miss" the bandwagon if you wait on certain cards.

Next would be thiking about "low reserve" and or a set reserve. MOST times I will not bid on an auction with a set reserve. Just the way I am. Some may only go with auctions with set reserves.

Scans not pictures if possible, but one or the other. I wil never bid on anything site unseen.

Sorry if you know some of this stuff but just trying to help out.

  • welcome to cu. when i began on ebay, i bought to build up my feedback. once i got 20 or so feedback, i started selling low $ items- i.e., star player lots, raw rookies, game used cards. i also sold a few lower end graded cards. if i were you, i'd sell low $ items and buy some low $ items...u may also consider sellin 3200 or 5000 count lots of sports cards- rookies, #d, autos, game used, etc.

while i bid on sellers w/low feedback, i'm always more leery of doing so...however, if it's a card i REALLY want, i won't avoid someone simply bc they have low feedback. i'm more worried about sellers w/a lot of negatives or feedback % <99%

btw if you have any psa 10s or bgs 9.5s in maddux, mcgwire, or palmeiro, i'd be interested.

  • I don't believe that your feedback numbers affect the price your cards go for at all. Shortly after joining ebay I started selling vintage sportscards and the prices the cards went for was surprisingly high. I had people contacting me to sell things without the protection of the ebay feedback system. If you have what they want and have a good scan of what you are selling they will pay top dollar.
