Cards cost $20.00. Shipping - $28.00

I just won an auction for 10 sets of Penn State Football Cards Auction In auction seller states that cards will be shipped UPS Ground. When I got the total for shipping I almost fell out of my chair. He wants $28.00 to ship these cards and after I e-mailed him and called him about this, his response was that they can only ship to Hawaii by 2nd Day Air (This is stated nowhere in the auction). I then said that I will have someone that lives in PA to pick up the cards and I will pay him via Paypal from my account. I live in Hawaii. He then said that he would have to charge me PA Sales Tax because someone was picking up cards there. The PA Sales tax comes to only $1.20 but that's not the point. He also made a smart remark that me calling him from Hawaii was costing as much as it would to ship card 2nd Day Air (I did not cost me a penny to call him). How can E-bay let people like this sell. He does have perfect feedback but I attribute that to the dissatisfied customers not giving negative feedback for fear of reprisal.

This guy sounds like a real charmer. You got one choice here... give him the neg! Pop his virgin positive cherry! If you're afraid of retaliation, wait until the 90th day, 23rd hour to post it. Then he can't neg you back out of spite!

    Clemente,

I did a quick search on UPS.com for 1 package at 6"x6"x6", 1 lbs and value of $20 shipping from Pittsburgh to Honolulu. Obviously this is a guess at the 14 cards you bought. It comes up at $19.70 for second day air and that was the cheapest service they offered.

I also tried the same dimensions etc from Pittsburgh to my state, MN. It comes up at $6.85 for the cheapest service, UPS Ground. They offered 8 levels of service shipping in the continental US.

im not sure that waiting for the 90th day 24th hr thingy works..... 28 bucks to ship...hmm i shipped to and rec from hawaii 2x in the past week and i have heard of no such policy.....
    Good for you.
  • I am going over to PA in June and I will have a surprise for him. I will talk to his employer and inform him about one of his employees is shipping personal items with company money. These cards are not and cannot be sold retail anywhere. They are given out by the "Second Mile".

That's false. Ebay auctions are available for feedback for at least 90 days, not exactly 90 days. It's often possible to leave feedback well after the 90 day limit. Just take a look at the feedback message forum on Ebay for more info.
