Home Buy, Sell & Trade - Cards & Memorabilia

Rut Ro... UPPER DECK came through for me as well. Finally...

I bought a box of SPx hockey last year and had problems with some of their cards. I sent them 1 jersey/auto RC in and 1 regular GU card and they said they had no product for replacement because it was all packed out. They gave me really poor replacement options so I simply asked for replacement packs to try to get something similar to what I sent in. The sent me 2 friggin packs after 4 months of waiting. The packs had NOTHING. I called and yelled about it. They said sorry and would send me enough packs to give me a real opportunity to get something. 3 more months = 2 more empty packs.
I blew up and called again and went up the "food chain of command" until I talked to a person who was moderately helpful. He told me they would only send me 10 more packs and then be done with me...lol.
I said okay, but was still quite ticked. I received the 10 packs today and pulled these...

2002-03 SPx Rick Nash AUTO/Rookie/500 (Blue Jackets) - $250 (highest one)
2002-03 SPx Joe Sakic Milestones Jersey 11/15 (Avalanche) (no BV due to scarcity)
2002-03 SPx Greg Koehler Jersey RC /999 (Predators)
2002-03 SPx Riku Hahl rookie /999 (Avalanche)
2002-03 SPx Ron Francis Spectrum Silver /199 (Hurricanes)

Was pretty pleased with those 10 packs... Better than any box I would have opened image Am still confused as to why they don't have replacements available and was ticked this took almost a year, but happy with the end result.

  • Zack- While it's nice that you FINALLY got something out of UD, it just seems to us that UD just sucks all the fun out of this hobby making you scream, shout, threaten & on top of all that taking a YEAR to finally settle the matter. This is eerily similar to our experience with them. Guess they figure that most people will just give up after a few calls & be done with it.
With many of the other companies doing it the right way, it just seems fruitless to deal with UD because of all the grief & aggravation you know you are going to encounter.
Oh well, we are sure happy for you! Great pulls! If you want to trade the Sakic, let us Avs nuts here know; we'll be happy to work a deal with you. Thanks!

LOL... I saved the 2 packs of Trilogy they also included for my wife to open and she pulled a Spezza Crest of Honor Jersey Number version /39 that books $60 and a Forsberg patch. Was a fun day image.

As for the Sakic, not really sure what I'd want in BV... Mainly would just be looking for nice auto's in hockey or football if I even trade it.

While I agree they should keep "perfect dup" cards on hand for this reason, how can you say you did not have the same chance at pulling a "better" card out of two packs? The odds are the same. While your odds increase for each pack you pulled that card out of one pack. A pack that had a value of "X" amount. So in actuality when they gave you two packs back they gave you TWICE the value of what you originally had.

Well my point was simply that they told me over the telephone that they offer replacements on a "card for card" basis, so I obviously expected the same cards back in better conditions that the ones I sent in. If they cannot offer the same, they need to be certain the packs have something worthy in them. He told me he would send enough packs to make certain I could pull something equal in numbers (the 2 game used I sent in), not in value. He then sent me two packs with nothing... So in essence, if you can't offer card for card replacements and will only offer packs, you better either make sure those packs each have GU in them or send more than 2... image

I actually sent in a Upshall Auto/Jersey/RC that used to book $40 and a Giguere jersey that did book for like $25
