  • With a mintage of 41,303,837 not very much...The price guide I have has AU-50 @ $8.50 and MS-60 @ $20. I don't think it will grade very high.... image

your 1936 quarter is in OK shape but has some nicks, one in George's head and two near the rim at 5 o'clock, the reverse has some rim bumps at 11 o'clock. the coin has a bit of wear on the high points.

because of these, the coin is only worth a few dollars, maybe five or ten (sorry, but it's probably closer to 5)

now if it had a D mintmark under the eagle, we'd be talking about a hundred or more dollars.

do you have any more old coins?

Well, you can sell it anytime, really. You can sell anything at any time. What you have is a nice coin. It's a common date and it isn't the kind of high grade coin you'd get slabbed, but it's a nice coin, EF or possibly AU (it's better than "very good"; "very good" really isn't very good).

You seem to have enjoyed finding it, so why hurry to sell? (Unless there's something you're looking to buy.) You can make it part of a set you want to build.

Elli, on the assumption that you are really 11 years old, you can NOT sell the coin to ANYONE REPUTABLE.

When I had kids come in to sell coins, I required that they be either 18 or BRING their parents or guardian (with papers if guardian) the first time they came in. IF they brought the parents, I would ask the parents if it was OK for junior to sell coins. If they would give permission (in writing) I would buy and sell from him.

    Otherwise, no dice.

That's cool Elli! Did you find it in change? I've been watchin for a couple months for silver dimes and quarters, but I've only come up with a 1963 Roosevelt...
