Merc Dimes in the Heritage Sale.Registry Quality.

I would think so because most of them belong to one of our members. Al (Grip) is the owner of most of these coins and is too Bashful for a self serving post for promotion of these coins. Finally he let the cat out of the bag in another thread here so now I will promote these coins for him.

If you need a Nice Merc here is your chance. Al has always been very picky when buying his Merc Dimes. If nothing else we all need to wish him the Best of Luck with the sale of his coins.

I saw that too, Ken, and I will be bidding on some of Al's Merc's. Not that I stand much of a chance though, with you being there to bid in person. image I think Lucy had mentioned that she would be there too, and of course a lot of the West Coast dealers and collectors will be attending, so we can expect some lively bidding.

    Hello Mercateers,

All of Al's dimes are really top notch and would be a nice addition to anyone's set. I wish Al all the luck on the sale, though I'm saddened that he is selling. I hope I'm in a position to buy one and keep it in Texas!

I had an opportunity to see Al's Merc. collection and I can tell you it is of spectacular quality. A couple standouts in my mind were his 1919(d) in PCGS-MS64FB (clean MS64FB) and especially his 1919(s) in PCGS-MS64FB (looks like a good shot MS65FB coin to me personally). The 1919(s) has booming luster, a nice strike, very few marks and great eye appeal. If you are in the market for a "gemmy" 1919(s) hiding out in MS64FB plastic, check out that coin! And, of course, gem+ 21(p) and 21(d) coins don't come around every day either image

Best of luck Al with the sale - in my opinion, your coins could not have been placed in a better auction this Spring - that Heritage sale is limited to around 2,000 lots only and your coins represent most of the Mercs in the sale!

As usual the Heritage pictures do no justice for some of the coins. They made the 18S look like Poo Poo in my opinion. Whats up with this anyway? One time they make the coin look good and the next time the photo stinks. If I was Al I would be screaming at them.

Anyway some of the prices just took a jump about 10 minutes ago. Tee Hee.....image

Bid em up boys and gals, Al deserves some decent returns.

    Wondercoin/Mitch

I just want to express my thanks to Mitch for helping me out in this auction. As you all know there are many dealers out there and I chose Mitch for this auction because I know him to be a staight shooter and reliable. It is premature but I have confidence that the outcome will be the best possible for the current market conditions.

    Thanks again, Mitch.

Al: You are very welcome. image Many times it is just easier and much fairer to all concerned to offer a collector a great auction rate to place the collection in a prestigious auction like this one, rather than try to buy the collection and make 15% -20% (which I am not saying isn't a fair gross profit especially when you consider costs of sale, but, I am happy to work for a fraction of that amount when I combine collections to form a large auction consignment, as I have done at FUN and now Portland this year). Next large consignment should be June, 2004 Long Beach and anyone can feel free to PM me to discuss terms for placement of their collections image

  • Best of luck on the sale, Al.
I will be in the hunt for a few and am high-bidder on a few at this time.
Sorry to hear you are selling, but glad it's just "burn-out" and not a forced sale.
I hope you can find the fun again in another series.
You can always give my faves, "Bust Quarters" a try! image

    Again, Best of Luck.

Strong enough to make all of my bids go bye bye which is a good thing for AL image but a bad thing for me. image I'll take a up close look at them Tuesday and then maybe reconsider some bids. image

This series looks like it is getting strong interest in the sale. It looks like only a few coins left have not hit reserve.
