What'd you think? Weird, unoriginal surfaces or not?

Thanks

I'll go with wierd, but original surfaces. Looks like a strong VF/ weak EF coin that encountered a bit of goo in it's early circulation life and thankfully escaped cleaning since.

Baley--thanks for the opinion, that's sort of what I was thinking. I can't tell if I like it or not.

Varlis: Personally I find that "splotchy" appearance to be unattractive, and I'd go for an evenly toned slightly circulated specimen over the one that you have presented...

I actually like it. Better this than dipped and stripped like the other 80% existing. A very nice VF35+ coin imo. Frankly, I also sort of like the odd mixture of patterns and colors than mother nature has applied over 100-200 years. It is too bad that today's collector is being led to the trough of jewel luster to drink.

I'd need to know the price to determine if I like it; I love it at a VF20 price, just like it ok at VF35, and would pass at anything higher than EF40 money. have you looked it up in Browning yet? I might like it better if it's a scarcer variety.

Yeah--it's a B-6. Cool die cracks to prove it. (I think Browning's rarity rating is a but optimistic for this one) I definitely like the even pearl-gray type toning better, but this isn't too shabby.
