Submission Question

I am getting ready to submit a 1909SVDB for grading. My question is what is the best way to ship this, packaging and service.

I know they call for registered, insured mail. What have you people done in the past?

Ditto. It can be a little slower, but the security is well worth it. Sometimes it's surprisingly fast, though. Last week I shipped a coin registered to Florida from Washington State (where I live). Shipped Monday, arrived Thursday. Not bad.

I sent 5 coins from Ames, Iowa on monday and they were logged into the PCGS system last friday. Not bad. Frankly I hope PCGS takes an extra week; I could use a few comps!!

I would reccomend shipping in a box and not a padded envelope. I have heard too many stories of them being slit open and the contents removed. I shipped 4 coins that way recently and they made it fine. Registered and insured.

Registered can't be shipped in a padded envelope anyway. It must be stiff cardboard, whether envelope or box.

My submission went in a box with every possible seam covered in that nasty brown paper tape required by the postal service for registered mail. It was mailed Monday 7 March and reached PCGS Friday 12 March. I just got the email that it was received

It doesnt have to be cardboard. Every seem has to be taped but you can send it in an envelope if you want. Just no bubble/padded stuff...
