Jodi-Mo is deft in turning PSA 5's and 6's into PSA 7's and 8's or PRO 9's and 10's. He has sold me many altered high dollar cards. That is why I only buy PSA cards now.

If that was the case, I would no longer collect graded cards. Turning a centered PSA 5 into a PRO 9 is a different story, and allegedely quite simple to do. All you need is a good eye, a scalpel, and a sucker.

  • Funny how he doesn't mention that it has been trimmed.

    Trimmed Ruth purchased by Jodi-Mo

Exact same card being sold by him with no mention of it being trimmed

I'm suprised it's not labeled as "gem mint" using PRO grading standards image

Gary is about 6'2'' 190 pounds. Balding with brown ponytail and mustache. He's about 45 now.

We've all seen beautiful PSA 5 cards which look like PSA 8's. Usually a small surface wrinkle is the cause of the low grade. Remove the wrinkle and behold: you have a 7 or 8!image

  • Yeah, Riddance I am with you. It seem that Gary needs to be given a little trim job himself. I would love to take a couple of notches out of this scumbag.

This guy's got a '57 Mantle PSA 6 going off on eBay in about 2 hours - still no bids yet - I remembered this thread and am struck by the unanswered question: how does he "remove the wrinkle"? and isn't this detectable by PSA? This feels to me like a rather incendiary issue....I remember someone advertising years ago in SCD with some sort of wrinkle cream but I never thought it was legit - I still don't believe you can restore a wrinkled piece of paper to it's original state. Am I naive?

Edited to add: I'm looking for a 6 Mantle and this one looks pretty crappy; I checked the cert and it's authentic, but it still doesn't look like a 6 - what am I missing here?

There are card restorers who have advertised in SCD. These guys specialize in stain removal, removing wrinkles [the process involves wetting then pressing out the wrinkle, almost like "steam ironing" something] and corner re-building. Restoring a PSA 5 Mantle to a PSA 8 returns big bucks!

  • There are numerous people who take creases out (as long as it does not go through to the rear), and others that use lighter fluid or similiar chemicals to remove wax stains off the rear of cards.

With respect to Mr. Moser...I have known him for years. I have bought from him and sold raw cards to him. The shame is that he was a reputable dealer/vendor back in the early 90's, but somewheres the train went off the track. For a while last year, he did not deal in PRO cards on EBAY, but seemed to be only auctioning off PSA cards. Some of us thought maybe he had found religion. Alas I guess not.

As long as there as collectors who buy the PRO graded cards, there will be fast buck con artists to feed their desire for these cards. Sad commentary on our hobby today.

What bothers me is that he is chummy chummy with staff of some major grading services. I have not seen that with PSA staff though, thank goodness.
