OT - If I seem a little aloof or different...

Dad had exploratory surgery yesterday to try and identify a mass on his right lung. It was determined he has a cancerous tumor on the outer surface of his right lung. image No idea on treatment yet because of the liver transplant. We have to wait until the final analysis of the biopsy comes back and the transplant team meets to discuss the best course of action.

    May you and yours find strength in a trying situation like this. I went through the same thing with my mom, which came after many years of her having health issues. I will keep you in my thoughts.

    Beth, I'm so sorry to hear this. I will include you in my prayers.....which are many! We are still waiting to hear if Bert has been chosen for his needed transplant. Sometimes life just gets unbearable and that's when you turn it all over to God. That's all you can do and what he's been waiting for you to do. God's blessings to you and yours.

    Thank you, guys. You are all great. The thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated by me and my family.

    I did just find out that it is a bit worse than we thought. He has several tumors on the lung and he would not survive a removal of part or all of the lung due to the type of cancer. They are going to attack it with medicine and either chemo or radiation. He does not seem to have accepted the diagnosis yet. He is not talking and not really eating. To put it mildly, I am a bit worried about him.

    I will say a prayer for your dad labmom. I am a pharmacist and if I can hopefully give you a ray of light---there are some amazing new meds out there that are really kicking the tar out of some aggressive ca's. I can hope and will pray that he will be fine.

    All prayers are greatly appreciated. The doctors finally talked to mom and dad today and delivered some devastating news. His cancer is inoperable and incurable. He has about a 30% chance of surviving for 1 year. image
