1954 S Roll of nickels came in the mail today. Need help

I just received a 1954 s nickel roll in the mail today.
Anyone know where I can find or can tell me what to look for in this roll.
I know there is suppose to be a s/d in this year.
Not even sure what that is.
Looks in pretty good shape. 1 end is tightly wrapped the other looks like it was opened.
Seller assures me they owned it since 1954 and it was never opened.
The reverse showing has marks on it and of course no steps.
the lettering on it looks very well struck but the Jeff memorial looks lame.
The obverse showing looks not strong strike with some marks on it.

Can anyone advise on a book or websight for errors on 1964s nickels?

I figure while I check them out for possible submission I can keep my eye open for errors.
