Quick question: What's the safest/best method of shipping a $45 coin to England?

Registered mail is slow but gets there safely. At $8.42, however, IMO a $45 coin isn't worth sending by registered mail.

I have shipped many coins to the UK. Registered Mail is the safest, Global Priority Mail for $5.00 is also good. I use a padded envelope, size 000, inside the Flat Rate Small Global Priority Mail Envelope.

Global Priority is 4-6 days.

Assuming the padded envelope and coin weigh 3 ounces or less, I would suggest Airmail Letter Post.

Airmail Letter Post 4 - 7 Days $2.40
Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (small) 4 - 6 Days $5.00

GPM is twice the cost and no quicker. Neither option offers delivery confirmation. I have shipped dozens of coin envelopes ($10-50 value) to the UK and have never had a problem. Registered mail is not a good value since the maximum liability is only $40.45 at a cost of $7.50 additional. For high value shipments ($100 or more), I typically use airmail parcel post - fully insured.

Get a safety mailer and send it airmail in a standard envelope...about a dollar.

Forget the box, just get a large safe-t-mailer.
