How is PayPal about fraud?

I bought a few cards from a guy today and I have no real reason to be concerned, but it is just that he sold several items that were alike and he only has 5 or 6 feedbacks from buyers (has 60 or so from sellers). We did the deal through email and I have copies of the deal and where he is to send insured w/ tracking. I paid part with a credit card and the rest w/ PayPal balance. He is a Verified Premier member and is Square Trade Verified on eBay. Do you think I have anything to worry about? Also how is PayPal about getting a refund if you get ripped on a transaction like this? PLMK

I hope they come thru cuz im freaking here myself on a echeck transaction 2k worth! i just got off the phone with them and they said nothing to worry about...yeah thats until i get ripped off and im told "sorry"

2 grand eh? Hope it works out for both of you. I've never been ripped for more than $30, but i stick to small trades.

You should be ok if he has those kind of credentials. Believe ebay does some background checks on those sellers/buyers who carry the "verified" & "square trader" logos.
We have dealt with a number of those sellers/buyers on ebay & always got fast service whether it was them buying/selling. Hope this helps.

Just a note from my experience. Square Trade membership means ABSOLUTELY ZERO@!!! Paypal is also a huge joke. I sent someone money through Paypal for a laptop which was $2000. I ended up not getting it, so I contacted both Paypal and Square Trade as it was all over his ad that he was a member. To make a long story short, he sent Paypal a shipping reciept that was shipped to someone else, not even in my state, and that only showed the zip code. So paypal said too bad and they couldn't help. He had no shipping proof whatsoever and wouldn't even reply to emails. So in the meantime I left him a negative FB. The best part is, SquareTrade never replied to my claim against him, what they did reply to was his claim with them to try to get the negative removed from his account. All Square Trade did was assign us a mediator who was a middle man for our emails. Because I couldn't prove that I didn't get it, even though I could show on Paypal I sent the money and he sent a phony shipping receipt, I LOST, and he got the FB removed. I won't go anywhere near Paypal, and threatened to sue Square Trade because they kept sending me emails non stop about this guys claim. And for the guy on one of these threads who said ignore the site paypalsucks.com because all big companies have problems has no clue what he is talking about. I've had my account frozen FOR NO REASON with over $5000 in there before and they want everything from credit cards reciepts to drivers license, to phone bill, letter from employer, they even demanded reciepts and details about my supplier who I was getting my goods I was selling. What they do is totally illegal. After having to fax these documents over 15 times because they kept saying they never got them, and talking to every rude person there, I finally got them to release it after 4 months of making interest on my money. If you read they're user agreement, this is apparently all within their rights and if you don't like it and want to close your account like I asked for, you have to wait 6 MONTHS! Read the fineprint I guess. Either way, I won't use either of these idiotic companies again.

Guess I didn't make the long story short after all, lol.

boston1918-Was this guy who ripped you off in Virginia, by any chance? Reason I ask, is they just put a guy in jail who had been ripping people on ebay & he was selling computers/ hardware & supplies over ebay before he was finally caught.

I don't think he was in Virginia, it was a few months ago, i can't remember the state. He had tons of FB though, in the thousands, but he had about 10 negatives of people that never got their item and said he gave them fake tracking info and stuff like that but Ebay and Paypal didn't care about that.
