My wife wants to start collecting Canadian, any suggestions?

I Collect U.S. coins and currency. My wife has caught the bug to collect, saw some Canadian Coins depicting various forms of wildlife. She's an animal lover (to the tune of about 200.00 per month in maintainence) and I seem to think I've seen an awful lot of Canadian coins with animals. Can anybody suggest a series, a book, etc, to help get her off on the right foot?

Lock up the checkbook and all the credit cards
As for animal coins go with the Discovering Nature Series (50 cent sterling silver proof coins) minted from 1995 - 2000 four coins per year. I have attached a couple of photos.

PS: How many coins are in this series?

What types of animals does your wife have?
<< <i>Just a suggestion but I've always thought it would be neat to pick a particular animal and collect as many coins as possible from all countries depicting that particular animal.

If she's married to a "MadMonk", I'd assume she has at least one monkey.
