Check the "T" and "C" on you "P" Jeffs

Finished opening up and examining 5 rolls of "P" mint Jeffs. I find it incredible that in this day and age, this mint cannot produce decent coins free of hits, nicks, cuts, scrapes and scratches that we, the collectors, pay a premium for. Or at least minimize them by chuting or ramping them into bins instead of ejection drops.

Anyway, here is a pic of a piece of metal over the "T" in UNITED on the reverse. Found 6 like this out of the 200.

Also found 11 out of the 200 with this chunk of metal in the "C" of AMERICA.

Didn't find any with both on the same coin, and highly doubt they will get any premium.

  • The "C" looks as though it has a clam nestled in it.

Did you get them from rolls right from the mint?

Wooh. Extra metal usually means a die break, but I don't see any cracks. You've definetly got some kinda of variety there.

Well, they're making like 2 BILLION of these things. I don't think they can hand-craft that many.

Say they mint 2 billion "P" Jeffs and I looked thru 200. That means I sampled 1/millionth of the total. Therefore, there should be approx. 6 million of the "T" type and 11 million of the "C" type Jeffs out there.

Not what I would consider a rarity by any means! Also found 4 with a very short die crack running from the rim into the "U" of UNITED. Again, 4 million of these out there.

And yes, nwcs, these 5 sets came straight from the mint.
