OK, so what's with this rating thing?

So I'm bored and screwin' around in my profile and link this Jack Nicholson pic I modified from "The Shining" as a sig to better describe my true self (the wife says I'm psychotic, and she's pretty much on the money), and I notice that there's this "enable others to rate me" thing. I figure it's a way for everyone to bash and trash me, and I click the "enable" option, because your opinions will in fact, make me or break me (I'm laughing on the inside). So, is it a bash and trash deal? How do people read that,... how do I read it,... or is it supposed to be a good thing? If they can rate me as a 'ba$tard', I'm in serious jeopardy! The truth doesn't hurt, it's just the truth. Craig
