Could someone grade this dime?

Can this dime be graded from these scans or are they not clear enough?

Comments

  • I'm not worth beans yet at grading, but I'd guess XF45. I'm probably way off, as the real experts here will proove.
The reverse looks nearly FB, but that weak strike and wear of the lower diag. band is a bit detracting.
Nevertheless, looks original. I'd like to see a "D" popping out of that reverse. image

AU by current standards. Possibly cleaned at one time.

Where are these xf grades coming from on this coin? The weakness shown in the hair is strike and not wear. Same for the lower diagonal on the reverse.

I will say AU55 or 58 because the luster cannot be seen from the photo. This coin could be mint state very easily.

AU53-55. I agree with Ken in that much of what you are seeing is strike weakness not wear, but I do see noticable wear to the hair.

    XF40-45

The revese looks nicer than the obverse. It looks original to me.

The wear is in the fields on the obverse - see the disruption in the toning. Just my opinion. Strangely enough, the reverse could be called mint state by some, just judging by the image - not really any wear obvious on the reverse and the marks don't seem to have edges that have wear on them....the edges look too sharp and not worn down.

It may just be the scan. It has that "washed" look.

From a wear point of view this can easily be AU but the scan is not picking up any luster if there is any.
