Im partial to the Pacific "junk" the prices are good and depending on the year you get "decent" pulls. Ive got 2 Vangaurd 00 and 1 02 Atomic that should be here 2morrow. Want me to post my pulls?

  • Hey Jason,
How far back do you want to go??
Just ripped a 20 box case of 2000 Donruss for $400.00
Some decent rookies and decent inserts.
Got some good stuff and Donruss even redeemed my exchange cards.

i don't buy boxes....but i've had the urge for a couple boxes of '96 UD SP. i've had more than one delusion of grandeur. nothings really catalyzed me to turn to the darkside and pull the trigger though.

2002 Pacific football (hobby version) will probably run you significantly less than $1 a pack (36 packs per box, maybe 20 boxes per case) when you buy by the case. You can expect 2 GU cards per box, a couple serial #ed parallels, and inserts of several varieties, including some that are not numbered, but produced in quantities of less than 1000. There are 500 cards in the set, with 50 being rookies. The rookies are not SPs.

Duner- I wouldn't call 96 SP junk. These are getting harder to find and aren't cheap. My opinion on junk wax is anything that goes for under $20 a box. (90 Score, Proset, 91 Fleer, certain Stadium club years, etc.).

Decide what you want from the box. If you are looking for Rc's and inserts certain product and years are better than others. If you are looking for GU, later 90's and early 2000 products are better.

I think the best box to break right now is 1999 SP Authentic . Boxes are reasonable for SP ($90-$125) and it has a great RC selection (Culpepper, McNabb, Williams, Holt, Boston, James, Bailey, Kearse #'ed to 1999) as well as 2nd year cards of Manning, Moss, Taylor, Woodson, A. Green)

I think Fleer Traditon came out in 1999. That has all the above RC's and can be had for $25-$35 a box.

I agree, Frank. I was going to buy a box or two recently, but I was curious how many RC's come from an average box of that year's SP. Any idea? I bought a 2000 Topps Chrome FB box recently...what were they thinking then? RC's fell less than 1 per box! You could buy a sealed hobby box, and get no RC's at all.

I like early 90s UD football, 91-94. They're fairly cheap and plentiful, and the cards had unusually good production. Slabbing the stars, rookies, and Heroes cards could be fruitful. You could go into business selling complete PSA 10 sets of Namath or Montana Heroes sets. And you might pull an autograph, too.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • ctsoxfan- I don't remember, it was 5 years agoimage
I believe they came seeded 1-3 per box. Regardless, I would still buy the box. It's a great break and they are going for the same price as they were 5 years ago. I'm currently doing the set for the Registry (as well as all the other football SP sets). Read my sets description if you want to know the basic nuances of the set.

    Fab how much and where?

  • Aknot- First source that comes to mind is Georgetown Card Exchange. In their latest SCD ad they have 1999 SP Authentic football listed at $109.95 a box, 3+ for $99.95. Their phone # is 215-675-2813 or go to their web site www.gcxonline.com

2 boxes are on Ebay now and you can also try the other unopened guys (dave and adams, mark murphy, bbcard exchange)
