Strike... Surface preservation... Luster... Toning...
Let's say you have an opportunity to buy a coin for your collection in an MS64 PQ grade. The price jump to MS65 is tremendous, so this is the perfect coin for your budget.
Which attribute do you find most appealing? Say 3 of the 4 above are typical for the 63-64 grade, but one of them is what you would find on an MS65+ coin. Which of the following would you pick realizing you need to make tradeoffs with the others?
Killer strike, with every detail fully brought up?
Ultra clean surfaces?
Booming luster?
Nice (but not monster) toning?
I'm a big fan for luster. I can easily give up some strike details and surface condition for a blinding headlight. What's your pick?

Ok, once I get past cost, my #1 is the same as yours. Luster.
Like that.

I'm putting my hip waders on
1) Luster, lots of cartwheel. Oh it ain't got a thing if it ain't got that *bling*. The most fabulous detail and strike is worthless if the coin has been over dipped, polished, or ATeed.
2) Strike and detail are pretty much covered under "1".
3) PCGS slabbed at MS63 or better that Russ is selling between $5 and $10 dollars, because he's poor and I want to help a needy guy out.

By the way, MSD are the initials of my company's chairman. You wouldn't happen to live in Austin, TX, would you?
