I am a fairly new collector and have come across auctions for some of
these 1998 & 2000 wide "A M" type 2 Lincoln cents. In doing a little
research on eBay for sales history and current auctions it looks to me
like the only two years for this condition are 1998 and 2000.
I have come across what looks to me like the very same proof die switch
on a 1988-D. Is there a good web site that describes these errors ? What
criteria is used to determine if a proof die reverse was used ?
Shoot me an email at: ss350camaro@hotmail.com
Thanks :-)

There are three different dates known to have the wide AM variety - from most common to least, they are 2000, 1998, 1999. The 1999 dated coins are quite scarce and bring hefty prices.
At current there is no really good guide that I know of regarding these coins. I do intend on covering it in the book I am writing, though.

A certain board member has owned two different 1992-D "Close AM" specimens and still does own one to the best of my knowledge; neither being the discovery specimen.
