A very sad day for all who love baseball cards - please read

I was out today and was able to snag some more Topps Heritage retail. (I'll fill you in later, but I just have to get this off my chest). I bought three boxes at Wal-Mart and three more at Target. Anyway, I sat in my car and opened a few of the boxes. When I opened one of the boxes from Target it had already been opened and then resealed - I then noticed that the resealing plastic wrapper was not the "Topps logo" kind. Anyway, each pack had already beed opened and consequently raped and pillaged. I was able to get my money back from their customer service and they told me that this had been done before. I have problems with dealers busting wax, and people feeling packs, but this was flat out criminal. SOB's like the guy who did this should be shot.

Brian

BTW, later tonight I'll post my need list for SP's, I got a ton of dups and can probably fill most people's sets.

With people tampering w/ slabbed holders, people stealing scanned card photos and offering them as their own, people doctoring reprints and offering them as originals, etc... Not much surprises me anymore! At least you got your $'s back, and this education didn't cost you any money...jay

That sux Brian, sighhhhhhhhh I would think that those stores wouldnt take those boxes back. sorta like a all sales final thingy. In any event that is exactly why I left our beloved hobby in 92 for almost 10 yrs...
    Good for you.

That is such crap! If the manager got involved, they could get to the bottom of it - someone musta bought them and returned them - there would be a record - I doubt if the vendor was involved.
WinPitcher - you were around when 90 Leaf was so hot that people were resealing the boxes with garbage inside them - do you remember?

Yes, and then i remm the following year they (1991 leaf) were worthless, it was around that time that the major manufacturers were playing games (as they still do) When I first opened there was TOPPS and to a lesser extent Fleer and Donruss, Then came Upper deck score hoops skybox and all the while you had each company doin 19 sets each year...it got to be just too much.....it was great for a collector cuz you could choose what you wanted....however, I can remm 86 fleer basketball It was very limited. my candy wholesaler got 1 case. I was able to get 15 boxes I think and made many kids happy as it was the first BB for a few years as Topps had stopped for 3 or 4 years (i think) l i remm selling Jordans for 5 bucks, and sets for 20.00 coallation was always good in fleer (unlike donruss) when i first opened thier were maybe 5 card stores in the county, when I closed my town had 5! It was at that point that I said enuff is enuff.... Brian I meant that they should not have taken them back from the person that had them b4 you. not that u shouldnt have had the chance to get a refund......
    Good for you.

I don't buy many cards from retail stores, but when I have, I usually see a sign saying "All Card Sales Final", to prevent stuff like this from happening. I am suprised they took a return back from the original purchaser.

Big retailers like Walmart and Target have very liberal return policies and their return people usually never put up a fight on returns, especially if you have a receipt and the item is still in it's 'original' packaging, or in this case, still sealed. I doubt the person who resealed the boxes would be stupid enough to have purchased the cards with a credit card and leave behind a paper trail. If Target wanted to, I'm sure they can find out who made the returns by looking through their surveillance video, that is, if they care that much.

The good thing is, the next time any of us purchase wax, we'll be alot more careful checking the factory wrapping on the box.
