My Stack's preferred customer card came in the mail today. I am, however, still waiting for the coin I won in their February 25th mail bid auction to arrive.

John Z- technically, you're right: I thought penultimate meant second-to-the-last.

As an adjective, it means next to last or almost last. It has been so misused however (because of the word ultimate), that colloquially it is accepted now as another word that means the best.

I have this on the direct authority from my Dad, an english PHd and author and critic who says "well, that's an incorrect usage but it's also right."

Mine arrived today and as I suspected it's covered in plastic...now I'll just have to revert the "Terms of Purchase, Sale, and Trade" they stuffed in the envelope to my special use category...
