World Silver Bullion Coins (kind of O/T)

I've always had an interest in American Eagles, but while searching for some cheaper 1996's on E-bay, i began to run into some Pandas. I really liked the 2004 design (faetures a mother and child panda) and the matte "proof" contrast, so, i bought it. I am now looking into silver bullion coins from all over the world and i hope on completing a small 1 oz type set. Currently, my favorite is the Chinese Panda..what's yours?

  • Any other silver bullion coins would also be helpful
  • While not sold primarily for bullion value (but then again, if you can find where to get kangaroos, elephants, monkeys or britannias for close to melt value, please let me know) there are currently as a series

Isle of Man Cats - Proof only in silver
Gibralter Cherubs - Proof only in Silver

I am assembling a set of one ounce silver "bullion" coins dated 2001 in unc. and proof. (coins which state on them that they are "one ounce silver") But I don't know if I can stomach buying the six coin Harry Potter set, the Chinese fans, the Chinese "flower" zodiacs, chinese colored Peking Theatre commems, etc that are geared as special collectibles rather than silver coins.

I do think that the Proof versions of many of these coins are amazing and look forward to seeing a 2001 Hologram Maple in person.

Silver Eagle Coins, who is a member here and posts numerous give aways on the World and ancients forum has excellent prices, quality and selection on numerous bullion coins. I have bought from him in the past and was very pleased.

The Austrialian Lunars are incredible in terms of design and production. They are reverse proofs that use three kinds of finish. Pictures never do them justice - you've got to see them up close.

I've been collecting libs, brits, kooks, (hey wait a minute, that doesn't sound very PC), leafs & panda's for a few years and really enjoy the reverse proof finish many of the country's give their BU coins. think of what a Silver Eagle would look like in reverse proof? Too bad we will never see it. The Lib is undervalued in my opinion but I'm not complaining. It has a nice reverse and obverse. The Kook and Panda rate just about even with me for design. I like the yearly (well almost early) design change.

Has anyone else had trouble with the raised images (mirror bust, etc) on reversed proofs scuffing?
