HOW to get rid of all your junk cards for $1000's

ebay auction

here is another form of deception. take 2 high dollar cards, say you selling off an inventory, and poof you can attempt to sell all of your worthless junk for a few thousand.

  • reminds me of those people who list "baseball card shop inventory" (do a search and you'll see the same 4-5 sellers have "great finds" each week) and then have faded/bad pictures. i've sold several 5000 count lots on ebay, usually making 1-200/lot. however, i have the max # of pics, i describe the cards accurately (i.e., if there's only 1-2 1950s-1960s cards in there, i won't say "huge collection of vintage cards"), etc. i sell the cards in lots mainly to get rid of them- and also w/the hope the cards will end up in the hands of a kid who might get turned on to collecting.

My question would be, if it came from a retired dealer, why did that "dealer" have so many different ebay seller id's when this guy bought all the cards seperately from ebay auctions? Check out the feedback. I even see the PSA 9 Rose rookie on his feedback.
  • haha knopfler. that's what i love about the "bought a huge collection", "former dealer of 20 years retiring/selling my MINT cards", "divorce forces me to part w/cards", "grandpa died", "$million collection", etc. auctions. like i said, i've sold several (probably 10) lots of 5000 cards/lot over the past year, but i don't make "inflated" claims or create stories and i always offer plenty of pictures (which are actually in focus- and which aren't just the 1-2 "hot" cards).

Yes, I've sold a few large lots myself. Have to get rid of all those raw cards somehow! I do describe the valuable cards in great detail. The funny thing is, he doesn't describe his cards at all. He should at least let people know that the SMR on the PSA 9 Rose is $9000. I would think that would be in his best interest!
  • What do you guys think of this auction?
Seems like a pretty good deal for whats there? Anyone deal with tihs guy before?

Check his feedback from sellers. The Mantle and the Aaron are in there, and that will give you an idea of what condition they're in.

Looks like there are some nice cards, but I wouldn't buy it with the expectation of making a profit or even necessarily getting the cards for less than you could if you bought them in smaller lots or individually. Featured lots like that one attract too many bidders, which is why some sellers put them together. I don't know the guy, but I wouldn't think he would put together a lot so others could profit. I sure wouldn't.

My bad - I didn't realize the auction had already ended.
  • I give my excess cards to my wife who is a principal at a school. She puts 15 cards in 15 small baggies and passes them out to the kids at her school.
Good way for kids to start collecting.
