What did the Redfield holder say? 65?

DCAM.....Yes, it was one of the MS65 holders, but believe me, it was in no way, shape or form, an MS65. I expected to get MS63 on both. I just wanted them in an NGC holder in case I decided to sell them in the near future since the toning is often felt AT. image

    Congrats on the grades.

It has been my experience the Redfields are worth dramatically more in the original holders. I would be curious how anyone could argue AT in a Redfield...I have never heard that before.

A really old guy told me once he saw a Redfield holder that had been tampered with and was ATed.

I would call it VERY rare to run across one.

Rampage- I've seen well over 100 of them in "65" and I have yet to see one that would actually grade MS-65. I do NOT understand the premium that attaches to the coins! I've never paid a premium for an overgrader's coins!

  • If you're not a Redfield collector, you'll never appreciate them in the original holder...just just leave them for me.

DCAM- I did not pay MS65 money for either of the two coins. Both were bought for a little less than MS62 money. Each has very nice target toning on the obverse and reverse, much like the auction link I posted some time ago that uofa was selling on eBay that brought over $500.00. The eBay coin was just a different date.

Doug- The few people I showed them to thought they were ATed for sure. Of course, I did not think so, that is why I bought them. At least this way, they are correctly graded.

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

    Richard.
