Help with "cents"

CladiatorCladiator Posts: 18,039 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hi all...

I know little about the coins I'm really into and know next to nothing about "cents". Any help on the approx. grade, possible damages, approx. worth on these coins would be appreciated. I know the pics suck but they're all I have. Thanks all.

The large cent appears to grade G-VG and is rather clean, meaning it does not show the porosity that is typical of the era. As to the exact die, I am not good at attributing them nor do I have a good reference to do so. Value to an EAC collector would depend on the rarity of the die.

The indian cent appears to have been monkeyed with at some point. It grades AU but appears (from the photo) to be too dark for the grade. I would be wary of that coin and would want to inspect it before purchasing it if interested. It could be a retoned cleaned cent. As for value, low end AU value would be sufficient if the coin is not cleaned...otherwise, net grade and value to EF.

On the 1800 I have to disagree with Coppercoins, the coin shows a fair amount of porosity which is leaving the surfaces rough. It is an S-203 (The severe die clash through OF is almost diagnostic to this variety.) It is an R-3 coin so it considered slightly less common but it does not command a premium. Condition looks like VG-8 sharpness, mild porosity, possibly some corrosion, can't tell anything about color but the coin doesn't appear to have any deliberate damage I would net grade it as a G-4. Worth maybe $50 retail.
