Does anyone have a copy of the Jefferson RPM book?

I have had this coin for a few years and was wondering the attribution on it. It is a 1946-D Jefferson Nickel. It doesn't look like the D/ Inverted D pictured in the Cherrypicker's Guide. Please excuse the crappy pictures. I just bought a cheap Digital Blue QX-3+ computer microscope and am still trying out lighting and trying to get it to focus right.

Anyway if anyone has any insight as to the correct variety, I would appreciate it very much.
Also please bear with me, as I have never posted a photo before and will probably mess it up some how.

Thanks,

Robert Dunn

Robert, hard to tell from the pic, but it does appear to be a RPM. CONECA lists it as a 1946-D RPM-002 FS-031.

    Hope this helps.

  • The RPM-002 is the D/Inverted D variety.

Yours may be RPM-003, listed as D/D West

Scan looks great to me... very clear!

Guys, that coin sure looks like RPM-004 to me, due to the two complete and nearly separated vertical lines in the mint marks. RPM-003 doesn't show nearly the degree of separation in the vertical lines that this coin has.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • You can check my website for a scan of RPM 1 and 4 here but it appears to me that you may have a very EDS (early die state) of RPM-3, or you may have one that is unlisted.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

How do you go about getting a coin that isn't listed slabbed with the variety listed? The coin in question is around MS64-MS65. It has nice steps but unfortunately isn't FS due to having a couple of nicks across the steps.

    Once again thanks everyone.

Upon looking at the 1946-D Jefferson, it appears that there is some doubling on the reverse.
Attached below is a picture of the doubling that is especially strong on "STATES".

Is there a doubled die variety listed for the 1946-D Jefferson that has a repunched mintmark and reverse doubling?

Sorry forgot to post the pic.

rdunnit, your link looks more like machine doubling rather then a DDR variety. Can't be sure though.

Yeah it does kind of have a shelf like appearence. The RPM is very strong however.
