Solution to the National Obesity Problem

While paging through albums of certain regional sets tonight, I wondered if the solution to the government's new concerns over our "overweight nation" would have been to allow companies to put cards only on bags of apples, boxes of granola bars and heads of lettuce in the last few decades instead of Hostess Twinkies, Drake's Cakes, Johnston Cookies, Kahn's Weiners and Kellogg's cereal. All of the cards, none of the carbs, none of the guilt and let's face it... now the cards would be much more scarce! At least COLLECTORS would be among the country's more svelte citizenry.

    Aaahhh...

I can see it now.... Someday, I could be Registry King of:

    Bird's Eye Broccoli Cards
    Quaker Brand Rice Cake Discs
    and
    Healthy Choice Hall of Famers

Sure... we'd collect em... but I could still see dealers waiting for triple coupon week to buy them out and dump the food!!!!

At least Post put cards with some healthy cereals the last couple of years (although the mini bobbleheads appeared most frequently with cereals like Oreo O's).

Don't forget the all-time waistline killer: 7-11 Slurpee discs.
