Embarrasing Moment for yours truly

and shows what a moron I can truly be! I had just bought a awesome "blueish, purple, red" toned 1903 Indian and I mean this was a terrific coin. Set it down before putting it away in my collection....now I've lost it...I've searched high and low and I am sure it will turn up at some point,....

Seems I will be hiding my own Easter eggs before too long. BTW, the coin was purchased "raw" as a "CH-BU" for $80....I am out $ 80 tight now....

Feel free to give me a rousing M-O-R-O-N as I deserve it...hahahaimage

  • Yeah I am hoping for that similar "surprise"...hopefully sooner than two years. My wife thought I was nuts as I was tearing through everything from my safe, to nightstands, to computer desk.

She referred to that as "nonsense looking for a stupid penny" hahahahahahahaha Of course she has not clue what I buy and sell most coins for really as long as it never affects the ole' family budget process.image

I will be right over to help ya find it image I misplaced my Breens Encyclopedia last week. Took me two days to find it. I placed a television set on top it so it would not scratch the table, just did not realize what book it was until I moved the TV back.
Have faith it will turn up.

I've lost coins several times. They always turn up in desk drawers, etc. After an hour of searching for a recent purchase,
I gave up. I picked up another coin to look at under my microscope. And yes, found the first one already sitting there!

  • Ouch! Check under your sunglasses case or under the "Bills to be Paid" stack. That's where I usually find my new coin purchases. You must be 29-ish, like me!!!

  • I guess I should explain the "29-ish" thing: Me, my wife, best friends, etc. ALL claim to be "29". and say things like "29 is hell!!!" when the arthritis kicks in really well!! Chronologically (if ya' wanna be real technical) I'm 54. But I rarely admit it!!!

It happens to all of us! When I die, the family will be finding lots of coins in my desk, cabinets, safe, and file cabinets that never made it into the inventory.

No biggie LTI - sometimes I get up to go to the bathroom, walk around the house for a while and forget why I'm walking around in the first place.

See you in the old folks home! Should be a fun time...

    poptops -

Find the heaviest object in the room that's the most difficult to get under. Find the geometric epicenter underneath that object. When I drop something this is ALWAYS where it ends up.

Unless I'm working under the hood of my car and I drop a tool - in that case it never lands on the ground.

Yep Ruda, the damn thing either bounces right into the motor mount (where the telescopic magnet REALLY comes in handy), or it falls down into the nosing under the hood latch (Formula Firebird), where I have to remove the radiator protection under the car to retrieve the socket.

I remember waiting at the junk yard to go get a part when a guy walked in with a cracked piston in his hand.

He was working on his car and starting putting everything back together. He put the air cleaner on and couldn't find the little butterfly nut - so he figured "big deal" and drove it anyway.

Of course, he later found the butterfly nut in the worst possible place.

  • Talk about embarassing. When I was in eighth grade my parents had warned me not to lose my gym clothes because they cost about $40 to replace (a fortune to me!). One day in the locker room I was frantically looking around for my gym shorts and freaking about what my parents would do if they found out I lost them. Eventually I happened to glance down and I noticed I was wearing them image

Oh, and I still can't seem to find where I misplaced my Breen's encyclopedia either =(

I have a recliner that is very comfortable but likes to eat coins while I'm sleeping. I getting ready to slice it apart to recover the lost fortune.

Yup, that's what it is alright (although someone else loaded it into the available icons).

The kicker is, when I was in my late teens and early twenties I used to collect them (very legal at the time) and all my friends would buy them for me for gifts on my birthday and christmas. I used to show them with pride just like we now show our coins, and I still have a couple boxes of them packed away in storage (Hmmmmmmm, wonder if they are collectables now?!!!).

Oh, PS, my memory is still as sharp as a razor (except for that darned three cent piece!)image

I lost a Walking Liberty half dollar that I had put in a plastic bag. I found it on top of a couch many months later, still in the plastic bag.
