I have and I also added a note to my auction, "unlike others I do not use stock or other sellers images. " I am waiting to see if I get a response from them.image

Did he/she copy the pic into his/her auction or just using your pictures URL?

If they are using the pic that is on your site, put a very embarassing picture with the same name on your site, they will get the hint quickly.

If they copied your picture, I'm not sure you can easily do anything.

    did I mis-understand this?

I read it to say, you took a pic from someone else and are using it, and now are PO'd because someone else is using it?

I read it 147 times, and that is the impression I get.

    Is it April 1st?

In your first thread, you listed him as using someones else auction and pointed to the other auction (Which neither was yours). Now you are saying he is using your auction pics. So if I understand this correctly you are saying that there is two auctions out there using your pics (Both people from the previus thread). Why didn't you mention this in your last post.

  • Use an image editing program to put identifying text in your auction images.

It'll make it more difficult for others to use. Yes, they can still copy your image and edit out your text, but they'll probably take the easy route instead & search for someone else's clean picture to steal.

You take great photos. I'd use them to if I was selling a wide rim 79. image

Actually, I have alway thought of adding my ebay ID to my pics and after seeing what happened here I think I will.
I know in photoshop you can add wording to the pic or layer transparent letters to it. I'll have to do a little expierementing today.

In a previos thread Previous Thread, He pointed out that Travelerallover and Sterlingcoins were both using the same pics. Now he is saying that Sterlingcoins is using his pics. Which would lead me to believe that there is two people using his pics (Both travelerallover and sterlingcoins). My question was why didn't he point this out in the other thread.

Ok, This is what i see.
Sterling used a sba pic in a previous auction of his that started on 2/26.
Travelr used the same pic on all his auctions that started after 3/7
Now sterling uses the same pic from his 2/26 auction and adds a couple of MD's pic to it also.

So Traveler copied from Sterling who copied from MD

I think that's right, Because Sterling hasn't sold anything in awhile.

Because I didn't realize until the all the images unfolded that the two being used by sterling-coins was mine. And damnit, I take my own photos I don't have steal them from anyone else sorry any would think me so low. In all the confusion it comes down to this. After looking at sterling-coins auction he not only has my images but others as well in his auction.

What I was trying to communicate is I noticed two sellers with the same images which was my first post which was a general statment. It wasn't until after I looked a little better at the auction of sterling-coins did I realize that two of the images he was using were mine. Hence, the second thread which now has to do with MY BLOODY auction.

I am sorry for the confusionimage
I will go away now and deal with in my own wayimage

Yes, trooper is correct. Sorry I should have posted this all different but I had too many things going at once...my bad

  • He said in his first thread that those two sellers were using the same pics "not HIS picks" but now he has found that sterling-coins just sniped one of "HIS" pics. My guess is that Sterling sniped the pic from traveler too since he seems to have other peoples images, but if we didn't know better we could be saying MSD61 and Sterling have the same pics, see what I am saying. Maybe someone should tell traveler.
I am confused about the confusion!

  • I think I get it now. WHen you said you posted a thread on sellers using other sellers pics, I thought you were saying - I was selling seomthing using someone else's pix, and now it turns out somebody else is using them.

I didn't realize you were referencing a thread, I thought you were referencing an auction - which means I did not have enough caffine at that time, because now - it's clear as, well, mud.

sorry for my misunderstanding of your misundertsanding of my misunderstanding

It's okay SarasotaFrank in my haste I was not being clear and I sometimes type faster than I thinkimage That is why I like conversation over the written wordimage

The sellers has removed the image from his auction as promised. I also guess he visits this forum and has been getting quite a few emails on this matter. As far as I am concerned the matter is closed and I have learned a lesson from this. My images will now be water marked in hopes of this not happening again. The seller said my images were very good and represented a 79 SBA wide rim very well.
As I said he has apologized and put an end to this.

Thanks all for trying to understand the sometimes confused rambling of a crazed Irishmenimage

The two coins I see linked now are not the same coin. The one mark near the hair line on the cheek is similar, but look around the date and the rim. Not the same coins.

Unless the other seller has changed them since you posted, neither the coins nor the photos appear similar to me.

  • Just noticed your thread in the PCGS message board about a buyer that copied your images....I
have had the same thing happen several times...Here is what I have done to stop it (And scare
    the thief too image

    1) Report the image theft to E-Bay....Here is the link:

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/vero-image-text-theft.html

    2) Send a copy of this e-mail to the thief...

    3) E-Mail the bidders of the auction of the thief, showing them where they can go to bid on the
    "actual" item...

Let me know what you think...
